And the guys they find can be incredibly creepy. Basically there are 24 girls and 1 guy. Anytime during the show the girls can hit their buzzer and buzz out. If there are no lights on then the guy leaves the stage to the tune of "O Fortuna" and the next victim is brought in. If by some miracle some lights are left on after three rounds of videos detailing each contender's life, then the guy gets to choose a girl and they go on a date and get a pair of shoes to boot!
Some choice experts from the girls are as follows: Blablurn Member Dec 6, I kinda wanna see it. Cyport Member Dec 6, I watched about 3 years of episodes in one short burst a few months ago. If you can understand it without subs everything is available on the official YouTube channel. The real stars of the show are the hosts, a lot of the girls are hit Chinese Dating Show Take Me Out miss, and it's always bittersweet when a contestant that I like wins and leaves the show.
I find it ultimately very very entertaining. That and the over the top sound effects they keep on reusing. The WOOs from the audience.

Whoever is on that soundboard must have a field day. I love this show so much. I wish SBS didn't trim the runtime of the show.
The pacing feels all weird on the SBS version, even if it's still fun to watch. I want English subtitles, but I don't want a weirdly edited show! Member Dec 7, The girls can be brutal because they have the pick of the litter over there.
My mom is addicted to this show. She comes home at the right time just to watch it. Oh by the way, a direct translation of the show's actual title would be "Don't bugger me if you're not sincere". Chinese chicks are so damn butt-ugly you'd have to pay me to date them. BlackJace Member Chinese Dating Show Take Me Out 7, Typographenia Member Dec 7, Yeah, we loved watching this in the evenings source I was in Beijing this past summer.
PaulExcellent Member Dec 7, Spoiler They're not fans of the show Spoiler bugger means screw in the ass? Leona Lewis Member Dec 7, More like "If not serious then do not disturb" or, less literally, "Serious inquiries only.
Haha, I was making fun of the translation, not the actual title. If it's just "bug," it doesn't mean that.
Fusebox Banned Dec 7, Wanace Member Dec 7, It's entertaining in small doses. It's annoying when every girl you meet in China tells you you should be on it.
The episodes we get here in Australia are several years old.
More from Foreign Policy. Events to have fun, dahing show not to look for dates. It was based on the British show of thewhich in turn was based on the original Australian show and created based on the success of the international versions. The original stated had incorrectly stated "foreigners are prohibited from working at any television or radio station. The Chinese version is in your face about money; male contestants will frequently show off their bank statements and go here cars in an effort to woo interest from a parade of 24 women, who will either pass on them or vie for a date.
There was an incident where one of the female contestants claimed she would "rather cry in a BMW than smile on a bicycle" which sparked a change from the producers to be less materialistic.
The girls can be brutal but thats is what makes the show fun to watch, everybody loves both a trainwreck and a happy ending. Seen it a few times and its hilariously brutal.
Chinese Dating Show Take Me Out Some of the guys get absolutely crushed. The other version with the men in the reverse position is good too, just not as brutal.
Spasm Member Dec 7, This is our Sunday morning ritual, eating congee while watching. Dai Banned Dec 7, I'm a fan of this show.
It's kinda amazing, no lie. As brutal as the girls can be, I kind of like how direct they are. They seem fairly serious about vetting these guys and aren't shy about asking some pretty blunt questions. I'm baffled a lot of the time as to the reasons they turn of their lights when showing the video of the candidate's friends, one time the friends were like, "He's an honest guy and real friend!
The stories are also compelling for some of them. I was so proud of the woman who had no arms when she rejected the guy who picked her on her first episode. Blues Member Dec 7, Yeah, this is definitely a program that cannot help with my self-esteem.
Unlike Taken OutIf You Are the One does not rely on audience participation, use of catchphrases and physical attractiveness among male contestants. If the man elects to take one of the finalists who had shown interest in him i. One of the strangest things about the show was how the contestants both Chinese and foreign were given very little time to talk to each other directly. A woman said she liked me because she thought mixed-race babies were cute.
Bleepey Member Dec 7, I stopped watching the British version when I found out it was as fake as professional wrestling and the show would get me angry. It was stupid shit like: Salazar Member Dec 7, Cow Mengde Banned Dec 7, SniperHunter Banned Dec 7, My parents watches this shit.

If You Are the One: call for Australian lonely hearts on Chinese dating show
My girlfriend and I watch this show all the time. It's definitely not as weird as the pictures in the OP make it seem to be, but sometimes they have interesting girls or guys on the show. Every once in a while they bring a white guy on who can speak perfect chinese which always goes over well at first until they start picking on him.
Also, there was a much older woman on the show who was still very pretty, but would make herself available to almost any guy who walked through the door because she was looking for a dad for her son. I'm not sure if it is available in English, but its still pretty link without any subtitles. AtomskEater Member Dec 7, BladeoftheImmortal Banned Dec 7, I've watched this in Chinese with no subtitles.
Might watch some of these with subtitles. Sometimes foreigners go on the show. This is definitely a fun show - I've been watching it here in Australia for quite a while. As already mentioned, I wish it wasn't edited but apparently the Chinese version is also edited, though perhaps less??
